Aaron, 26 -32, is an adult, adopted child. His early life was defined by Claire's illness and unintentional neglect by their adopted parents while they focused on Claire's needs. A young medical resident, he is profoundly traumatized by his childhood. Resentful of Claire, he is nonetheless compassionate toward his sister yet emotionally conflicted about her and their parents.

Claire, female, is two years younger than Aaron and was separately adopted into Aaron's family. She suffers from mental illness due in part to early abuse and has been hospitalized for treatment. She is deeply fractured and acts out in frightening ways, but is sharply intelligent and perceptive.

Aaron and Claire's characters are fully three-dimensional in the text. They sometimes narrate as adults directly to the audience describing their shared past, but at others become the children they were at the time of those stories. Lightness and humor are skillfully employed to make this somewhat creepy play memorable and engaging while bestowing its actors material into which they can sink their teeth.
